Tips for better Search Results
With thousands of items available on our site, and new products constantly being added, finding the product you are looking for may seem a bit daunting. To find exactly what you need, as quickly as possible, we provide several methods to search our store, including a Product Category Search and an Advanced Search.
Product Category Search
To make things easy, we have grouped our products into categories. These categories are located on the FlexoSource homepage, and in the drop-down list located on the left-hand side of the page.
When you select one of the product categories, that categories contents are displayed on the right-hand side of the screen. This category drill-down continues until you reach the lowest level of a category where the products in that category will be displayed.
Product Search
On the left-hand side of the pages in FlexoSource, just bleow the blue menu area, you will find the Product Search function. This feature allows you to search for products using several search criteria. Type a word that is related to the type of item you are searching for into the text box and then select one of the search options from the drop-down list. Those search options are defined below:
Keyword - This search option will look at multiple fields in the database to try and display items that are related to your search word.
Item Code - This search option will only match your search with the actual Item Code, or item number. You can search on a partial Item Code, for example: if you enter 1020 in the search field, the results will show 1020, 1020-12, 1020-24, 1020-36, etc...
Description - This search option will only search the Item Description field. This can be useful when you do not know the Item Code for the item you are looking for, but you do know what the item is called or what it is used for.
Customer Part # - This search option can only be used when you have an account with us, and we have set up special Customer Part Numbers for you. To learcn more about this option, please contact Customer Service at 1-800-445-4017 or click here to e-mail us.
Vendor - This search option will only search the Vendor, or Manufacturer of the item. This information may not be available for all items.
Manufacturer Part - This search option will search the Vendor's or Manufacturer's part number for an item. This information may not be available for all items.
Boolean Searching
The search engine on FlexoSource allows for boolean searching. A Boolean search is one that contains logical words like "AND" and "OR" to create a specific relationship between search terms for the purpose of the search. For example, if you want to find all items that contain both drill and cordless in the description, you would use a Boolean search with the word "AND" separating the terms: drill AND cordless.
In addition, the capability to perform an "exact" search using quotation marks has been added. For example, if you want a search that reveals all items that have the exact phrase ".75 inch chuck" in the description, you would enter the phrase surrounded in quotation marks, just as .75 inch chuck is earlier in this sentence.
Advanced Search
If you are looking for a product, and you are unsure what category it might be in, try our Advanced Product Search. The Advanced Product Search allows you to specify your criteria for multiple fields at one time. Input the criteria you are looking for, and then scan the entire site inventory for items that match.
Every now and then you may get a search that returns No Results. If you see this, please check to make sure that you spelled any keywords correctly. Although we will attempt to return the information that you want, misspelled words will generally not return results.
